Strategic asset management

Financial professional-driven, fee-based asset allocation strategies

SAM is a fee-based investment advisory program, offering a customized investment portfolio developed along with your Equitable Advisors financial professional, who helps you tailor a plan to your goals, risk tolerance and time horizon.

There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution with SAM. Each portfolio is individually crafted to help achieve an optimal blend of investments tailored to your personal goals, time horizon and risk profile.

Customization

One of SAM’s distinguishing hallmarks is its capacity to facilitate custom-tailored portfolios. Portfolios can be created to help minimize the tax consequences of investing, address current income needs, protect your retirement assets or seek capital appreciation. Regardless of your investment objectives, your portfolio can be constructed to reflect your personal goals, time horizon and risk parameters, as well as other considerations.

Ongoing management

Portfolio rebalancing is important with respect to both the strategic asset allocation process and to the long-term success of your portfolio. Rebalancing is designed to help ensure that the allocation of your assets remains in line with stated investment objectives. Because the relative performance of various asset classes will vary, portfolios that are not reviewed on a regular basis tend to drift from their target allocations. A portfolio that is not regularly rebalanced could assume a risk/reward profile that is not in keeping with your investment objectives. Portfolios will be reviewed on a periodic basis, and adjustments can be made when needed to help maintain the optimal allocation of investments.

The account protection applies when an SIPC firm fails financially and is unable to meet its obligations to securities clients, but it does not protect against losses from the rise and fall in the market value of investments. This extensive coverage reflects a strong commitment to serving your investment needs.

Deposit Cash Account (DCA)

The Deposit Cash Account (DCA) program is a bank deposit program that provides you the option to “sweep” uninvested cash balances in your SAM account to an interest-bearing FDIC-insured deposit account, allowing your account to earn a return on these cash balances. The primary benefit of sweeping uninvested cash balances to a bank deposit program is to obtain FDIC insurance, which protects your cash against losses in the event of a bank failure (up to $250,000 per bank per account type and up to $1.5 million allocated across banks in this program). To learn more about the DCA program and if you qualify, please talk to your financial professional.

Depending on the portfolio size or the frequency of securities transactions, investors should evaluate whether the separately managed account services within Strategic Asset Management are suitable.
